The following venues are taking part in (Brighton &) Hove Grown in 2017. Scroll to the bottom to see their locations a map.

Artista Studio and Gallery is a photo studio, exhibition space and event venue for hire in the heart of Brighton & Hove. They have a fully licensed bar which they can operate until 2am and an in house sound-system. There is also a kitchen for functions as the space was once a large restaurant.

Set up in 2012, Artista was predominantly a working photographic studio. During this time they provided services to a broad selection of clients and assignments; look-books for local fashion designers, model portfolios, portraits, product photography, fashion photography, event photography and lifestyle photography. They also ran several successful workshops and model days.

Through their work at the studio they started to grow quite an extensive network of artists, photographers, models, MUA’s and creatives of all types. They realized through their conversations that what was lacking was a place where they could build a community, share experiences, talk shop, network or just hang out with other like minded people as well as display their work.

The Claremont

The Claremont is a stylish boutique guest accommodation, housed in a gorgeous Victorian Villa with a secluded walled garden: the perfect back-drop for quirky and diverting performances; with a café and licensed bar should you require refreshments.

If you needed to stay over after a show, it has 11 elegant and comfortable bedrooms each individually styled and stocked with luxurious extras.

It is also licensed to host Wedding and Civil Partnership ceremonies and offers the dining room, study and drawing room for meetings, functions and as a theatre venue. Vintage Traditional Afternoon Teas are available at weekends (by appointment only) – book via our website:

The Purple Playhouse

The Purple Playhouse Theatre is a fully licensed, accessible not-for-profit theatre. It is the ideal venue to host a diverse range of musical gigs, performances and events. The Purple Playhouse is also more than a theatre – we’re a Community Interest Company (CIC) associated with the Grace Eyre Foundation, which also has a range of spaces available for hire – from the theatre and meeting rooms to training kitchens and even a beach hut! All proceeds from hires and our café/bar are reinvested in Grace Eyre’s many projects and programmes supporting people with learning disabilities.

Sweet Dukebox

The Sweet Dukebox opened in November 2012, and plays host to a variety of shows, including theatre, comedy, cabaret, music, and poetry. The Dukebox also holds regular weekly acting classes. The theatre won the Latest Award for Best Venue at the Brighton Festival and Fringe in 2013. The Dukebox Theatre joined Sweet Venues in 2015.

Based at The Iron Duke pub and guest house, patrons have access to everything under one roof – a cosy pub and B&B, and a theatre to provide the evening’s entertainment. With central Brighton just 10 minutes walk away, the location is perfect for getting out of the town centre, but still having easy access to everything you could want!

Please note that, due to licensing restrictions, under 18s are not allowed in The Dukebox after 8pm.
